Training Overview

The “Magic Team’s” main objective is building the foundations for great goaltending. All our programs, from beginner to elite, have been designed with these key points in mind. As ability increases, with the development of mobility and strong technical skills, speed and agility are Incorporated into the higher level programs. In turn creating the three key elements of goaltending: Technical, physical and psychological.

We have designed specific training programs to develop goalies from beginner to pro.

MGD Fundamentals and Fundamental -Minor

Our MGD Fundamentals and MGD Fundamental Minor program focus on youth skating abilities to build strong foundations for future development. More Details

Skating mobility for goalies is the most essential component of a goalie’s performance on ice. Our MGD team brings another important program to enhance the progression into our Goaltender Development Programs.

  • Explosive power
  • Balance control
  • Recovery time
  • Muscle memory enhancement
  • Position Specific Movements
  • 6 goalies only
  • 1 Hour on ice
  • 3:1 student / instructor ratio
  • Weekly Classes Available during the Season and Spring
  • Other Programs Available
  • Week Long Summer Programs Available
  • Private Sessions Available

MGD Minor & Advanced Minor

This Program has been specifically designed for our Intermediate – Advanced Goalies. More Details

We at Magic In The Net and MGD are constantly looking for new and innovative techniques; not only to control your position but to excel and enhance your game. MGD will review your registration details and will place you in the appropriate program.

Level 1 MGD Minor

Level 2 MGD ADVANCED MINOR

Objective:

  • Inside edge control and further enhancement of positional specific movements
  • Improved set position
  • Quicker save and recovery response
  • Greater save movements
  • Understanding of rebound control
  • Tactical responses and save movement
  • Basic understanding of transitional play
  • Basic communication skills

MGD Major & Advanced Major

  • Greater precision in movement skills
  • Understanding position while down
  • Further expansion of tactical responses and save movement
  • Sound technical game
  • Transitional play, spotting the puck phase
  • Communication continues to improve

MGD Elite Minor & Major

This year we are expanding our MGD ELITE Programs for our up and coming Major Midget, Junior Prospects clients. More Details

This personalized program will be based more towards 1:1 on ice instruction and personalized fitness components upon request. To be accepted into these programs you must submit an application for approval.

Level 1 – ELITE MINOR Level 2 – ELITE MAJOR

Objective:

  • Continued fundamental development to maintain a strong core of basic skills
  • Greater precision in movement skills
  • Understanding position while down
  • Further improvements in rebound control as positioning and save control are enhanced
  • Improve awareness and anticipation
  • Strong tactical response
  • Transitional play to a interactive phase
  • Communication continues to improve

Objective:

  • Understanding of positional play while on their feet versus positional play while down
  • A distinct personal approach to the position and game
  • A high-degree of efficiency across all fundamental skill groups and understanding that these basics, regardless of level, are the key to their success
  • Advanced tactical, transitional and positional play

MGD Prospects

An Elite Program for our Major Midget, Junior Prospects, Junior A & B, Major Junior, College and Pro Clients. More Details

MGD Vintage

This program is for goalies 20+ who plays at recreational level and want to improve their skills. The program will teach you how to improve your game and technique. Vintage goaltending is highly educational and you will receive valuable information.
